This song starts off with such a majestic atmosphere! It was so divine, it was blindingly painful (lol). I could really feel the strength and power radiating from it, so I ended up naturally writing lyrics about a “girl who serves God” (lol).
I really struggled over whether to use made-up words or regular ones for the opening lyrics, but I thought it would be nice if they sounded like words of prayer, so I went with invented ones.
At the end, a demon and a girl who appeared in “black” (Witchcraft) make a brief appearance. In my mind, the religious order the girl belongs to looks pure on the surface, but behind the scenes it’s rotting away, corrupted by an arrogant pope and lazy priests.
The lyric I’m most fond of is: “Without beauty, life holds no worth.” That just kind of came out naturally—like, “Oh wow, we’re really going there, huh?” (lol)

Lyrics

Before the written lyrics begin, the track opens with a passage of invented, prayer-like words – Yura’s own coinage, sung aloud but never written down (she mentions this in her comment above).

inori hikari (hikari) kokoro wo teraseba
kikoeru koe (kikoe) michibiki no mahou

The light of prayer (light) – when it shines upon the heart
a voice can be heard (heard) – the magic of guidance

watashi wa kami wo aishi
kami wa subete wo aishite orareru no da
yuiitsu no michi wo shimesu soko ga soko dake ga rakuen
utagau na

I love God,
And God loves all things
Showing the only path — there, only there, lies paradise
Do not doubt!

tsuyoi chikara shieki kore koso ga kiseki
moumoku ni susumu saki ni matsu no
kami no kokoro to eichi ga
risou no sekai e

This world has no need for darkness
To wield great power — that alone is the miracle
What awaits at the end of a blind journey
Is the heart and wisdom of God
Leading to the ideal world

shinkou seyo (shihai) aragau koto naku

Praise the name (at once), the noble sacred name
Have faith (submit), without resistance

yoru ni wa se wo hau muchi
ikite iru dake de tsumi wa fuete yuku no
batsu wa watashi ga ageru
aka ni somaru shinayakana shirei

By night, a whip crawls across the back
Merely being alive, the sins keep mounting
I shall deliver the punishment
Stained crimson, supple and lithe – such loveliness1

kono yo kara shuuaku wo keshimashou
utsukushiku nakereba ikiru kachi mo nai
hitsujitachi namida wo nagashite mo
nani mo kawari wa shinai no
kami no oboshimeshi

Let us erase all ugliness from this world
Without beauty, life holds no worth!
Even if the lambs shed tears
Nothing will change
It is God’s will

anata ni wa kowaseru no deshou ka
yakitsuku you na hikari zankoku na (toki) wo
kuroba no ma tsureta kuroi majo (shoujo) ga utau
horobi to yurushi no nemuri hitoshiku ataete

Can you truly destroy it?
That searing light, that cruel time?
A black-winged demon at her side, the dark witch – a girl2 – sings out
bestowing, in equal measure, the sleep of ruin and of forgiveness

  1. The word written here (締麗) is not standard Japanese and is most likely a transcription slip. From the context – something supple, stained red, in a song fixated on beauty – it reads as “beauty / loveliness,” but the exact intended word is uncertain.

  2. The black witch and her black-winged demon are carried over from another Yura song, 黒 (“Witchcraft”), which she mentions in her comment. The lyric writes 魔女 (“witch”) but has her sing 少女 (“girl”) – the same write-one-word, sing-another device seen in her other songs – hinting that the dreaded “witch” is really only a girl.
